GDP Growth Rate
8:30 AM (New York)

The GDP growth rate measures the annualized change in the inflation-adjusted value of all goods and services produced by the economy. It is a key indicator of the economy's overall health. Higher than expected GDP growth is bullish, while lower than expected GDP growth is bearish. The US economy expanded an annualized 1.6% in Q1 2026, up from 0.5% in Q4 but below 2% in the advance estimate, primarily reflecting downward revisions to investment and consumer spending. Consumer spending rose 1.4%, less than 1.6% in the advance estimate. The rise was mainly supported by demand for services (1.8%) while goods remained subdued (0.4%). Also, gross private domestic investment rose 7%, below the 8.7% reported in the advance estimate. Business investment in equipment surged 17.2%, while spending on intellectual property products increased 11.6%. In contrast, investment in structures fell 5.4%, and residential investment declined 6.2%. Meanwhile, net trade contributed negatively to GDP (-1.25 pp), as exports rose by 13.1% (vs 12.9% in the first estimate) while imports jumped 21.1% (vs 21.4%). Government spending rose 4.4%, in line with the initial estimate, recovering from a 5.6% contraction in Q4, as activity resumed following the end of the government shutdown. source: U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis

Durable Goods Orders
8:30 AM (New York)

Durable goods orders measures the change in the total value of new orders for long-lasting manufactured goods and transportation items. Higher than expected durable goods orders is bullish, while lower than expected durable goods orders is bearish. New orders for US-manufactured durable goods jumped by 7.9% from the previous month to $346 billion in April 2026, after an upwardly revised 1.3% rise in the prior month and largely beating forecasts of a 3.5% advance. This marked the strongest increase in new orders since May 2025, mainly reflecting higher demand for transportation equipment (+21.5%), particularly nondefense aircraft and parts (+165.9%); and capital goods (21%). Orders also increased for fabricated metal products (3.5%); primary metals (1.9%) and machinery (0.5%), but fell for computer and electronic products (-0.7%). Excluding transportation, new orders rose by 1.1%, the same pace as in March; while excluding defense, they surged by 8.1%, after a 0.3% decline previously. Meanwhile, orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft, a closely watched proxy for business spending plans, fell by 1.1%, following a 3.9% rise in the prior month. source: U.S. Census Bureau

Personal Income
8:30 AM (New York)

The change in personal income for May will be released. Previous: 0% Forecast: Personal income measures the change in the total value of income received from all sources by consumers. Higher than expected personal income is bullish, while lower than expected personal income is bearish. US personal income was unchanged month-over-month in April 2026, falling short of market expectations for a 0.4% increase and following a slightly downwardly revised 0.5% gain in March. The flat reading was largely due to a $61.7 billion drop in farm proprietors’ income, reflecting lower payments under the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program after applications closed in mid-April. Proprietors' income with inventory valuation and capital consumption adjustments also declined by $57.8 billion. This was partly offset by a $39.6 billion increase in compensation, including a $32.4 billion rise in wages and salaries. Private wages and salaries grew by $28.5 billion, while government wages and salaries increased by $3.9 billion. Meanwhile, disposable personal income fell by 0.1%, or $19.9 billion, after a 0.5% increase in the previous month, while the real DPI dropped 0.5%, slipping further from an upwardly revised 0.2% fall in March. source: U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis

Personal Spending
8:30 AM (New York)

The change in personal spending for May will be released. Previous: 0.5% Forecast: Personal spending measures the change in the inflation-adjusted value of all spending by consumers. Higher than expected personal spending is bullish, while lower than expected personal spending is bearish. US personal spending increased by 0.5% month-on-month in April 2026, or $111.1 billion, slowing from an upwardly revised 1% gain in March and matching market expectations. Spending on goods rose by $44.0 billion, primarily driven by a $28.8 billion surge in gasoline and other energy goods amid soaring energy prices tied to the Middle East conflict. Additional gains were seen in food and beverages ($9.5 billion), other nondurable goods ($8.2 billion), and recreational goods and vehicles ($8.1 billion), while motor vehicle spending fell by $9.2 billion. Spending on services climbed by $67.2 billion, led by housing and utilities ($22.7 billion), recreation services ($12.1 billion), food services and accommodations ($11.3 billion), and final expenditures of nonprofit institutions ($9.9 billion). Meanwhile, inflation-adjusted consumer spending edged up 0.1% in April, slowing from an upwardly revised 0.3% increase in March. source: U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis
